Learning how to connect ChatGPT to HubSpot is one of the simplest ways to start using AI inside your everyday CRM workflow.
With the HubSpot app connected inside ChatGPT, you can use plain-language prompts to create CRM records, add companies, create contacts, associate contacts with companies, and even create deals.
This does not replace learning HubSpot, but it can make simple CRM tasks feel much faster and more conversational.
Below is a quick walkthrough of how the connection works and what you can do once ChatGPT and HubSpot are talking to each other.
Watch the walkthrough below to see how the ChatGPT and HubSpot connection works in practice.
What You Need Before You Start
To connect ChatGPT to HubSpot, you will need access to ChatGPT’s app connection features. In this example, the connection is made from a ChatGPT Plus account.
Inside ChatGPT, look for the Apps option. From there, search for HubSpot and select the HubSpot app.
Once you choose HubSpot, you should see a connection flow that asks you to log in to your HubSpot account and approve the required permissions.
A Quick Note on the Connection Process
The connection may not happen instantly.
During my setup, HubSpot took a little while to finish granting all the permissions. At one point, the screen showed only a few permissions granted, but after waiting and reconnecting, the full permission set appeared.
So, if the setup screen spins for a minute, do not panic. Give it a little time before assuming something is broken. Technology loves to test our sanctification.
Once the connection finishes, you can start a new chat and activate HubSpot from inside ChatGPT.
How to Turn on HubSpot Inside a Chat
Once HubSpot is connected, start a new chat in ChatGPT.
Click the plus sign near the message box, go to More, and choose HubSpot. This tells ChatGPT that you want to use the HubSpot connection inside this conversation.
You may also see other ways to invoke connected apps, such as typing something like “@HubSpot,” depending on your interface.
Once HubSpot is active, you can begin giving ChatGPT CRM-related instructions.
Example: Creating a Company and Contact
For a simple test, you can ask ChatGPT something like:
Create a new company called Everlight Enterprises and create a contact named Jane Everlight.
ChatGPT will then use the HubSpot connection to begin creating those records.
Before it writes anything into your CRM, it may ask for confirmation. This approval step is important because ChatGPT is about to take action in another system.
In this example, ChatGPT created the company and contact, then recognized that the contact was not yet associated with the company. That led to a follow-up instruction:
Please link Jane Everlight to Everlight Enterprises.
This is a good reminder: when working with AI-connected tools, be explicit. If you want a contact associated with a company, say that clearly in your prompt.
Example: Creating a Deal in HubSpot
After creating the company and contact, you can also ask ChatGPT to create a deal.
For example:
Create a deal with Everlight Enterprises for $452,000 with a close date of April 17, 2027.
ChatGPT will then prepare the action and ask you to approve it before creating the deal inside HubSpot.
Once approved, the deal should appear inside HubSpot, associated with the company record. In this example, the company record showed the associated contact, the deal amount, and the close date.
That is the basic idea: you can use conversational instructions to perform simple CRM setup tasks.
What This Is Useful For
This kind of HubSpot connection could be useful for routine CRM work such as:
- Creating new contacts
- Creating new company records
- Associating contacts with companies
- Creating basic deals
- Adding missing details to CRM records
- Speeding up simple data-entry workflows
The key benefit is not that ChatGPT magically runs your whole CRM. The benefit is that you can turn simple CRM actions into plain-language instructions.
For business owners, sales teams, and operators, that matters. A lot of CRM friction comes from small tasks that are easy to avoid: entering a contact, creating a deal, updating a record, or linking the right person to the right company.
AI can reduce some of that friction.
Be Careful With Permissions and Security
There is one major caution: when you connect ChatGPT to HubSpot, you are granting access between systems.
That means you need to take account security seriously.
If someone gained access to your ChatGPT account, they could potentially access connected tools, depending on the permissions granted. That could include reading CRM data or writing new information into HubSpot.
At minimum, make sure your ChatGPT and HubSpot accounts are protected with strong passwords and multi-factor authentication.
Convenience is great. Accidentally giving a digital raccoon access to your CRM is less great.
Final Thoughts
Connecting ChatGPT to HubSpot is a practical first step toward using AI inside real business workflows.
This is not about chasing shiny objects. It is about asking a better question:
What routine business tasks can now be done faster, cleaner, or more consistently with AI assistance?
Creating contacts, companies, and deals is a simple starting point. From there, you can begin exploring more advanced workflows, such as summarizing CRM activity, preparing follow-up notes, identifying missing fields, or helping sales teams keep better records.
The best way to learn is to start small.
Connect the tools. Create a test company. Add a test contact. Create a sample deal. Watch what happens. Then begin thinking through where this could save time in your actual business process.
AI becomes far more useful when it stops being abstract and starts helping you get real work done.
